After your 10 days of boot camp leave, you will report to Marine Combat Training (MCT) or Infantry Training Battalion (ITB). MCT is approximately 29 days long, and ITB is approximately 49 days long. All non-infantry Marines go to MCT, while all Infantry Marines go to ITB. Whether you attend ITB or MCT, the mission at the School of Infantry is to train entry level Marines in basic infantry tactics.
Upon graduation from MCT, all non-infantry Marines report to their Military Occupational Specialty School. There is no leave or liberty in transit from MCT to MOS School.
Upon graduation from ITB, all Infantry Marines will be shipped directly to their follow-on units in the Fleet Marine Force.
